Rory Mcllroy is one of the hottest properties in the sport of golf at the moment which was confirmed in 2011 when he romped to victory at the US Open with a record score of 16-under-par. He must now prove he has the ability, determination and mental toughness to go on and win more Majors. The US Open is arguably the toughest of the major's due to its traditionally long fareways and testing holes. Mcllroy has proved that he has the game to compete and win in these conditions and will be gunning for back-to-back US Open wins come June 2012.

Mcllroy had a fantastic start to the 2011 US Masters, becoming the youngest ever player to lead at the close of play on day one, with an impressive 7-under-par-65. Mcllroy continued his good form into the second and third rounds and headed into the final day leading the pack by four shots at 12-under-par. However, the 21-year-old from Northern Ireland heartbreakingly collapsed in the final nine holes and finished in a dissapointing Tied 15th.
However, he bounced straight back at the US Open to win his first Major in style. The pressure will be on him in 2012 as he is the man to beat.
