US Open Championship Players
A total of 156 players head out on day one of the US Open each year, all attempting to become the next name to go down in the US Open history books of this famous major. Thousands of players have all made a bid to land the coveted first prize and trophy over the years but only a small number of players can actually boast to ever winning the US Open.
Some of the greatest ever golfers to have played the game are among the elite list of players to have won the US Open. Past greats such as Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin and the late Payne Stewart all won at least two US Open Championships.
Current players who have won the Championship twice include Tiger Woods, Reteif Goosen and Ernie Els all of which will be popular in the 2008 US Open betting.
Jim Furyk will be looking to add to his 2003 title this year whilst Phil Mickelson will be looking to end his US Open jinx at the 2008 event. Despite winning the US Masters and US PGA Championship, Mickelson has never won the US Open yet has finished second on a staggering four occasions. And he will be sure to go one better at Torrey Pines.
